Strengthening your business for what comes next
Across Australia, Allied Health providers working with children and families can feel the ground shifting beneath them in a seismic manner.
Funding arrangements are evolving fast, even if we can’t see it yet. Access pathways are being redesigned, providers being agreed and funds allocated accordingly. None of these changes are abstract. Whilst it may feel like a corporate world away from small business the impact is being felt. Fewer referrals, notable funding changes in plans, client types are changing along with what they believe they want. All understandable and very much part of Allied Health business as we know it. The deep issue here is what will it ultimately mean for the livelihood of Allied Health professionals and Business Owners.
Most owners are still doing what they have always done: showing up for families, supporting their clinicians, and working hard to keep the organisation steady. But alongside that commitment, many are quietly carrying a set of questions that don’t easily find space in a busy week. We know its honestly going to take a whole lot more than this.
Is the business positioned well for what may come next?
Are we relying on funding or service assumptions that may not hold?
What decisions should we be making now, before pressure forces them later?
These are not questions that can be answered between client sessions or late at night when the inbox is finally quiet. They require time, perspective and structured thinking.
That is why we created the Thriving Providers Bootcamp.
Across four focused sessions we step out of the operational swirl of running a service and examine the business properly — the environment around it, the foundations within it, and the decisions that will shape its future.
The first session looks carefully at the moment the sector is entering. Rather than speculation or commentary, we examine the signals emerging across policy, funding design and service expectations. The aim is not to predict the future, but to understand the terrain well enough to lead a business through it.
In the second session we turn the lens inward and look at the structure of your own organisation. Service mix, revenue exposure, operational capacity and financial resilience all come into view. Many owners have never had the opportunity to review their business in this way. When they do, they often discover strengths worth protecting and vulnerabilities that deserve attention.
The third session explores the strategic choices that follow. Once the external environment and the internal structure of the business are clearer, the next decisions begin to emerge. Participants start shaping the priorities that will guide their organisation through the next stage of the sector.
The final session focuses on action. Good businesses improve through a series of thoughtful projects. Each participant identifies the next meaningful step that would genuinely strengthen their organisation — not a long list of ideas, but one clear piece of work that moves the business forward.
The Thriving Providers Bootcamp is designed for thoughtful owners who recognise that the strength of their business matters — not just for themselves, but for the families they serve and the team that relies on the organisation for their livelihood.
The bootcamp is facilitated by Cathy Love, founder of Nacre Consulting. Cathy has spent more than two decades working alongside Allied Health organisations across Australia — as a clinician, leader, advisor and business strategist. The plan is to keep the sessions real, practical with a calm focus on futureproofing.
We ensure the group is intentionally small so conversations remain practical, candid and useful.
If you have been feeling the need to step up, take more control, get some well-timed guidance and examine your business properly, this may be a valuable place to do that.
